Apple’s Lesson for Detroit

So Ford reports a “surprise” second quarter loss of $123 million. Meanwhile Apple surprises with strong iPod sales and better gross margins (due in part to cost cutting). What should Detroit (and business-types) be taking away from this?

Get the product right. Lead the market. Make your products as desirable as possible and then work on the cost-cutting.
